INFARMED,I.P. organised its 2024 Annual Conference on 20 November in Lisbon, under the theme “Innovative Future of Medicines and Health Technologies: Regulatory Strategies, Digitalisation, and Integration“. The event brought together national and international experts who discussed the emerging challenges and opportunities in the health sector.
The Real4Reg project was mentioned throughout the day as a prime example of an innovative initiative in the field. Prof. Dr. Karl Broich, President of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, BfArM, highlighted the project during his keynote speech on “Promoting Digital Health: The BfArM Approach“, offering valuable insights into the role of digital solutions in the regulatory landscape.
Health Minister Ana Paula Martins and Secretary of State for Health, Ana Povo also referred to the project during the event, further emphasising the importance of digital transformation in health regulation. Additionally, Tiago Rodrigues from INFARMED’s Digital Transformation team shared additional insights about the project, while also highlighting several related initiatives at both national and European levels, particularly in the context of building a digital transformation network for the healthcare sector.
The conference was preceded by the 2024 Annual Conference Satellite Symposium, which focused on the theme “New Health Technology Assessment System 2025“. This symposium aimed to provide information on Regulation 2021/2282 on health technology assessment, which came into effect in January 2022 and will be fully applicable from January 2025.
