Real4Reg’s Dissemination of Scientific Findings – Publications and Posters

Dissemination of scientific findings is one of the most important components to a research project’s success. On the one hand, it promotes the exchange of knowledge, fostering scientific progress and contributing to a deeper understanding of the topics under study. On the other hand, it is also a key determinant to the project’s visibility, ensuring that the results reach different stakeholders and have an impact on people’s daily life.

Real4Reg has a well-defined dissemination strategy that, among other activities, includes the publishing of scientific articles in high impact peer-reviewed journals and the presentation of posters and talks in major international scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops regarding public health, applied regulatory science, pharmacoepidemiology, statistics, artificial intelligence (AI), among others. The consortium truly believes in the importance of making the results as accessible as possible. Therefore, all the publications made so far and the ones that are yet to come, will always be shared in an open access format. This ensures a timely and effective dissemination among a wide range of stakeholders, such as health care professionals, regulatory and health technology assessment (HTA) experts, policy makers, health insurance specialists, academia, industry representatives, and general public.

So far, Real4Reg has published three scientific articles which are briefly described below:

“The EU project Real4Reg: unlocking real-world data with AI”

This position paper was published in “Health Research Policy and Systems” journal in February 2025 and provides an overview of Real4Reg. Firstly, it presents key information about the project and the involved stakeholders. Afterwards, the main goals are established and a detailed description of the studied use cases is given. In addition, a brief explanation about the methodology and the expected impacts in different stakeholders is also addressed. So far, this paper has been cited seven times and accessed over 4000 times. (as of 11/06/2026)

“Supplementing Single-Arms with External Control Arms – Evaluating of German Real-World Data

This scientific article is available in “Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics” since April 2025. The publication aimed to assess the possibility of supporting single-arm trials (SAT) with RWD-derived external control arms, since these types of clinical trials are becoming more common. Breast cancer and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) were selected as the case studies, however the results show that even though some parameters like survival or adverse events are usually well recorded in RWD sources, some considerable limitations still remain, challenging this implementation. Until now, this publication has been cited two times and downloaded over 2000 times. (as of 11/06/2026)

“Key Stakeholders’ Knowledge, Opinions, and Interests on Real-World Evidence in the Regulatory Process – Results of an EU-Wide Survey”

Since December 2025, this publication can be consulted in “Clinical and Translational Science”. It provides the opinions and perspectives of different stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies, academia or patients, in regards to the incorporation of RWD and AI in regulatory and HTA decision-making. The results demonstrate that the stakeholders recognise the importance and usefulness of RWD, however some aspects such as data quality or standardisation, still need to be improved and refined before their complete acceptance in decision-making. Currently, this scientific article has been viewed over 1200 times. (as of 11/06/2026)

At the moment, further publications are under review while others are being prepared by the partners and should be published until the end of the year. Several additional publications are also planned for 2027, as some results will only become available during the project’s final months.

As mentioned above, the Real4Reg’s dissemination strategy also contemplates the participation in some of the major international scientific events. This includes several presentations and the posters indicated below:
