A highlight of the meeting was an invited talk by Prof. Mads Nielsen from the University of Copenhagen, who presented the PHAIR (Pharmacovigilance by AI Real-time Analyses) project. Leveraging the comprehensive Danish healthcare data infrastructure, PHAIR explores AI-supported causal inference to enhance medicine safety monitoring.
The meeting also featured participation from the project’s Advisory Board and experts from the MetReal Cluster — a group of projects funded under the same Horizon Europe call — fostering a technical debate on the progress of the project, as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of real-world data. The discussion was further enriched by the contributions of renowned clinical experts, namely Dr. Mamede de Carvalho (Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon), Dr. Ruben van Eijk (University Medical Center Utrecht), and Dr. Liisa Pylkkänen (Finnish Medicines Agency).

The face-to-face setting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration, deepen discussions, and foster new ideas for the future.
