Project Coordinator’s Visits to Consortium Partners Enhances Collaboration within Real4Reg

The recent series of visits by our project coordinator Kerstin Pfeifer (BfArM, Germany) to all work package (WP) leaders has significantly reinforced collaboration and innovation within the Real4Reg project. Since she joined Real4Reg ten months into the project, these visits provided an in-depth overview of the partners’ work and their teams. The focus of the meetings was to get to know each other better, to understand what is important to the partners in our project, and to learn more about the progress of the WPs, including challenges, possible solutions and cooperation across WPs.

The series of visits started in Copenhagen in January 2024 with a visit to DKMA’s Data Analytics Center (WP1 leader). Here, Kerstin Pfeifer learned more about DKMA’s work and the team jointly discussed some project management strategies for the coming months and as a result, some new tools were implemented afterwards.
A couple of days later, a visit to Fraunhofer SCAI (WP3 leader) took place. As Fraunhofer is located near BfArM in Germany, our project coordinator was accompanied by further BfArM colleagues. After a general exchange, the team jointly took part in a biweekly project meeting. Afterwards, the fruitful exchange on Fraunhofer’s work continued and more clarity was gained on the progress of the various complex WP3 tasks to develop and implement data science (in particular AI/ML) algorithms for the project.

In April, the series of visits continued and this time, Kerstin Pfeifer travelled to our northernmost partner, the University of Eastern Finland (WP2 leader) in Kuopio. The group had a great exchange about UEF’s work in the project and discussed some innovative proposals to facilitate the analysis and later interpretation of findings from the different countries as these will likely differ due to the different contexts and heterogeneous data.

Lastly, our project coordinator made a trip to Lisbon in May to visit INFARMED, I.P., the leader of WP6. Also, this visit was very valuable, as the face-to-face meeting allowed the team to work together on many different topics and documents, including the planning of upcoming events in 2024 – stay tuned!

All in all, the visits resulted in great progress. The different teams enjoyed the valuable time together and are now looking forward to meeting again at our consortium meeting in Finland this month.
